For your convenience, we’ve compiled a list of the questions we hear most frequently. We also invite you to review our scholar handbook for more details or for clarification on our policies. If you still have questions, give us a call—we’re happy to help!

How do I enroll my child at Berean Academy?

We are thrilled to welcome new members to our community! Please visit our Registration page for information about the enrollment process at Berean. Due to our current wait list, we ask that you complete and return a pre-registration form, then await our call for further instructions.

Does your school offer breakfast and lunch?

We operate an excellent nutrition program at Berean. Our cafeteria serves breakfast and lunch every school day without cost to our scholars. For more information, please see our Student Services page.

What if my child requires medication during the school day?

We will administer medication in accordance with state regulations and with physician and parental approval. Please complete our medication authorization form (available in our front office), and bring medications in the original, labeled packaging. All medications must be stored in our nurse’s station.

Do you provide transportation services?

We do not provide transportation services for our scholars. However, we offer after-school care to allow parents the flexibility of picking up their scholars around their work schedule. Scholars may be dropped off each morning at 7:30 a.m. and picked up at dismissal. Scholars enrolled in our affordable After-School program receive excellent care in a safe environment until 5:30 p.m.

What is ParentPortal, and how do I get a username and password to use it?

ParentPortal is just another way we keep communication between home and school strong. It provides you with almost real-time access to your child’s grades, attendance history, and other important information. You will receive log-in information at enrollment. If you need assistance, please call the front office.

What do I need to do if my child will be absent from school?

If your child must miss school, please call the school office on the day of his/her absence. For information about attendance requirements and what qualifies as an excused absence, please refer to our scholar handbook.

Do you enforce a dress code at Berean?

Berean Academy is a uniform school. We believe that “while hairstyle and similar matters of momentary fashion are not worthy of concern in themselves, adherence to a standard is an important element of discipline. It is a great mistake to require nothing of children. Reasonable rules and standards are an important part of any education system” (Dr. James Dobson, Psychologist and Author). Our uniformed dress code encourages a modest, disciplined learning environment to ensure scholar learning and focus. It applies to all scholars at all times during the school day except with administrator approval. Our school uniform includes the following:

  • Tan or khaki-colored shorts, pants, capris, skirts, jumpers, or skorts
    • We do not allow cargo-style or stretch-knit pants.
    • Shorts may not be shorter than 2” above the knee.
    • All pants must be properly sized to be worn at the waist or hip.
  • Navy polo shirt with the Berean Academy logo for elementary scholars
    • Shirts must be worn tucked in.
  • Navy or red polo shirt with the Berean Academy logo for middle school scholars
    • Shirts must be worn tucked in.
  • Navy or red polo or dress shirt with the Berean Academy logo for high school scholars
    • Shirts must be worn tucked in.
  • Navy or red polo or dress shirt with the Berean Academy logo and red, white, or black tie for senior scholars
    • Shirts must be worn tucked in.

We do not restrict outerwear styles; however, coats, hats, gloves, and sunglasses may not be worn in the building. Shoes must be close-toed: no sandals, “wheelies,” or flip-flops; and all tattoos must be covered. Hair should be kept neat.

What is the cell phone policy at Berean?

We encourage all scholars to keep personal electronic devices at home, including cell phones. While we understand a parent’s wish to stay connected to their children during the school day, we cannot be held responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of any personal electronic device. If your child must bring a cell phone or other electronic communication device to school, it should remain powered off and/or in your child’s backpack during the school day.

How can I get more involved?

We strongly encourage your involvement. Please take the time to introduce yourself to your child’s teacher and let him or her know that you’re interested in getting involved. We also invite you to join PVO and make your voice heard! Parents can also support their child’s education in some basic ways, including the following:

  • Encouraging your child to get plenty of sleep
  • Offering a healthy diet, including a good breakfast (or getting your child to school early enough to eat breakfast in our cafeteria)
  • Helping your child get up in plenty of time for school
  • Providing neat, clean, comfortable clothes
