Our student services staff works hard, often behind the scenes, to ensure every Berean scholar has access to the resources and support they need to flourish in our classrooms. If you have questions regarding any of these services, please let us know. We are here to serve.
Food Services
Good nutrition promotes good health and helps scholars learn. Our cafeterias offer scholars new foods and provide the opportunity for scholars to make healthy choices while fueling up for learning and play. At Berean Academy, we provide nutritional and well-balanced meals for breakfast and lunch without cost to our scholars.
If your child has special dietary needs due to food allergies or medical conditions, please complete a medical statement as soon as possible so we can provide the appropriate modification to their lunch menu. We do not accept outside food or drink deliveries during the school day. Please send all home lunches with your scholar each morning.
USDA Nondiscrimination Policy
In accordance with federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the USDA, its agencies, offices, and employees, and institutions participating in or administering USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA.
Persons with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information (e.g., Braille, large print, audiotape, American Sign Language, etc.) should contact the Agency where they applied for benefits. Individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have speech disabilities may contact USDA through the Federal Relay Service at 800-877-8339. Additionally, program information is available in languages other than English.

Health Services
We are dedicated to keeping your child safe and healthy at school. Our entire staff is trained in first aid and CPR, and we keep all medications (including over-the-counter medicines) locked in our school office. Parents, please drop off medication for your child in its original, labeled packaging. Do not allow your child to carry medications with them to school. We will administer medication with your written consent. Medication authorization forms are available in our front office.
Library & Media Center
Our state-of-the-art media center, with multiple computers and Chromebooks available for student use, helps scholars reach into cyberspace to expand their knowledge and increase their awareness of our world. We believe that with diligence and access to the right tools, everybody can succeed.
Our library/media center staff is happy to help. Be sure to come in often before or after school.
Educational Services
Our schools freely and appropriately educate students identified with special needs/abilities in the least restrictive environment suitable for their individual needs in accordance with federal and state laws. We offer educational and support services both in and out of the classroom that support the academic, social, and developmental achievement of every student.
Special Education
Our special education program works with families to create Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to meet the special needs of their children. This plan includes related services in and out of school, at no cost to the family, to complement the student’s personal instruction and ensure that he/she receives the most benefit from his/her education. 504 Coordinator

Title I
Originally passed as part of President Johnson’s War on Poverty in 1965, Title I is the cornerstone of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. It is now commonly referred to as No Child Left Behind and is the largest federally-funded pre-college education program in the country. Title I provides funding to improve the education of economically disadvantaged scholars.
The Title I program at our school funds the reading mastery intervention of scholars targeted “at risk.” It ensures that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach proficiency standards on academic achievement tests. We monitor all scholars’ benchmark reading scores, AIMS scores, and report cards to determine eligibility. We send notices home with identified scholars asking for permission to participate. If you receive this notice, please sign and return it as soon as possible so your child can begin receiving interventions.
